Birthdays are special days for many people. Some choose to celebrate it in a special way while others simply let it slip by. Some say it’s an emotional day reminiscing about the past years and planning for the future.

Mine was one of a joyful one. At least some special friends of mine made sure it was so.

Day1:

This year my birthday fell on a Tuesday a week day and it rained on that day but that did not deter some of my friends to make my day a memorable one . Klenam and Yayra, ayekoo to you girls who made sure that day didn’t pass without some few glasses of drink and food. We made our way through the rain to AMPM, Villagio for our own private thing.

Day 2:

On Friday night some old mates of mine from AUCC made my birthday another special one. Nana, Tamimu, Adiza and Klenam. I thank you so much for the drink up and time at Goldcoast especially to Nana/Millicent who masterminded this party.

Day 3:

My girls got me down on this. It just wasn’t enough. We had a “Fufu Party” at my place after a long day combing the streets of Accra getting ready for the next day. Kate, Getty, Yayra, you ladies have been super amazing. Thanks a lot.

Day 4:

The climax. After church we headed straight to Kokrobite for our own kind of beach party. Kuvuki was a beautiful and clean beach and we really had some wonderful photos to show that.

And Oh I got my cake and some bonfire and wasn’t spared some ponding to crown it all. Thanks a lot Klenam for getting your colleagues from work to give me that surprise. Kate and Yayra, thank you ladies as well for making the all the fun we had at the beach.

Many blessings to everyone for the best wishes, I sincerely do appreciate everything and wish you same in many folds.

This new age is a black themed year for its meaning of Elegance, Power and Mystery. We are taking on new territories, new adventures.

The fashion scene has witnessed the birth of a new fashion brand called “Aku+VI”. It was founded by Nana K. Brenu, also the designer for the internationally acclaimed luxury brand 1981.

Aku+Vi was launched at the beautiful scenery of Untamed Empire to celebrate sisterhood for every woman and contemporary life.

As part of the launch was the debut collection called Modern Renaissance.

This collection are a blend of clean details, finesse cuts with prints inspired by the renaissance motifs and Adinkra symbols to create designs that makes the fashionable woman conscious of her inner strength and outward capabilities.

I happened to handle media relations for this launch and I look forward to seeing every chic and fun lady owning a piece or 2 of Aku+Vi pieces in their closet.

Going to that event and want a simple quick dress to wear, dash straight to purchase any of these at an affordable price at 1981 shop just opposite the GT Bank in East Legon, Lagos Avenue.

As an alumna of African University College of Communications, it was an honor to go back to my alma mater and share my little and short story and journey so far after graduating in 2011.

The IPR AUCC Chapter held its first PR event dubbed “The PR Series” event themed “Effective Public Relations for Development”.

They had speakers and guests such as the President of the University, Dr. Anim-Wright, Henry Nii Dottey, Honorary Secretary of the Institute of Public Relations, Ghana, Chris Worla Essikpe of Star Oil and Michael Bruce of Tigo Ghana, Corporate Communications Department and former student.

Discussions were around how students can take advantage of all the opportunities available such as social media, internships and on campus participation in order to gain additional skills for the job market and also best strategies to adopt to develop as an individual and as a nation.

Last week, I had the opportunity to join other speakers at the Accra Edition of the Fashion Africa Voices (FAV) as part of the British Council Ghana Enterprise Africa Summit.

Founded by Jacqueline Shaw, Fashion African Voices is organized by the African Fashion Guide in partnership with the British Council Ghana, Hatch Africa and Fashion Forum Africa.

The event had 4 panel discussions on Fashion and Education, Fashion and Ethics, Fashion and Finance and an up close interview by Ivy Proper with Maame Adjei of An African City and Girl Going Places on the “Bigger Picture”

There were other speakers such as Yvonne Ntiamoah of Radford University, Nana K. Adusei of Charlotte Prive, Claudia Lumor of Glitz Africa, Vanessa Bannerman of Christie Brown, Stephania Manfreda of Elle Lokko, amongst others.

Fashion Africa Voices is a mini talk event aimed at supporting business development goals and get these businesses on the road to success bearing in mind that ultimately it will be driving success in Africa’s textile industry.

Africa Fashion Guide was birthed with the focus to create an awareness campaign that promotes the full supply chain of the African fashion and textile industry with an ethical perspective and create links with the greater global textile industry.

It was a pleasure adding my voice to support the promotion and economic development in Africa and also promote ethical and sustainable fashion.
